Allison Lorraine Kidney was a goaltender in her sophomore year at Warwick High School in Orange County.
"On behalf of the school district, I want to express my heartfelt sympathy to Allison’s family at this very difficult time," said Warwick Valley Central School District Superintendent Dr. David Leach
“Allison was a great teammate on the Warwick girls JV and varsity lacrosse teams,” said Coach Denis O’Connor. “She was accepted and encouraged by her teammates and, as goalie, was instrumental in the varsity team’s Section 9, Class B championship.”
Warwick Valley High School counselors and psychologists are available for any student who may need or want help, or any type of assistance, surrounding Allison's death, Leach said.
"This tragic loss is sure to raise many emotions, concerns, and questions for our entire school district, especially our students," Leach said.
Born in Stupino, Russia, August 18, 2001 in the Moscow region, and named Elena, a name she later accepted at her confirmation, Allison was adopted in 2002 by her parents, Bryan and Kristine (Turner) Kidney.
In addition to lacrosse, she loved photography. She also loved to eat pasta too; so much that her father called her “Noodle."
Ally loved her family, especially her brother and her aunts; spending time with her cousins and they enjoyed their “girl cousins weekends” together. She loved her friends and spending time with them. She was a great swimmer, loved the beach and the water, and loved taking trips to the shore.
Allison could light up a room with her smile and never had a bad word to say about anyone.
Ally is survived by her parents; her brother, Ian; paternal grandmother, Lois Kidney; maternal grandparents, Katherine and Peter Turner; many aunts and uncles and many cousins. She was predeceased by her grandfather, Richard Kidney.
The family would like to thank the Warwick Police Department for their support and professionalism; and also Father Richard and St. Stephen Church, and their friends, Pete Easop and Jeff and Jen Peterson who were there in a moment’s notice.
